Toshiba Introduces New Low-Contrast X-Ray Imaging Feature

At the 2007 meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Oak Brook, Ill, Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc, Tustin, Calif, unveiled a new low-contrast imaging feature that will be available on the company's Infinix-i large panel x-ray systems.

The feature expands the current capabilities of x-ray, enabling visualization of soft tissue in the angiography suite. This capability is intended to increase patient comfort and safety by reducing the number of exams and need to move patients to CT.

"As an industry leader in low-contrast imaging for CT, Toshiba is proud to leverage this expertise to bring exceptional low-contrast imaging capabilities to x-ray," said Robert Micer, director of the X-Ray Vascular Business Unit at Toshiba. "Toshiba's new low-contrast imaging feature for the Infinix-I x-ray line can achieve better images of all soft tissues, including brain tissue, cerebral ventricles and hepatic visualization, thus allowing patients to be imaging and treated more quickly and accurately."

FDA 510(k) clearance of the feature is pending.
