The Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) and the Education and Research Foundation introduce the Robert E. Henkin Government Relations Fellowship. The fellowship, endowed by Robert E. Henkin, MD, was created to provide young professionals in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging with direct personal exposure to government relations activities of the SNM as well as the state and federal legislative and regulatory process.
Each year, the selected fellow will travel to Washington, DC, and spend a week at the SNM headquarters. Throughout the week, the fellow will learn how the federal legislative and regulatory process impacts nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, visiting Capitol Hill, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and other government entities.
At the conclusion of the week, fellows will return to their occupations more experienced in public policy decision-making and better prepared to contribute to the practice of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. Fellows are expected to apply what they have learned by becoming a health policy leader in their respective communities, and being a resource for SNM.
The program is designed for young professionals defined as a resident or fellow physician, scientist, or technologist who has completed training within the last 10 years. Professionals who have been in the field for longer than 10 years are not eligible.
