Quest for the Holy Grail of PACS

Sponsored By:

A unified workflow for all your reading businesses

You know what we mean and you've been searching for it too: A single worklist and viewer for all of your imaging studies. Seems like such a simple concept: straightforward and sensible, yet in practice there are obstacles. And although your vendor tries to meet your needs, you are still not satisfied with your current PACS solution. Enter Intelerad.

Intelerad IntelePACS is designed to handle the unique requirements of multi-site PACS installations involving wide area networks and complex workflows. Because Intelerad customers include teleradiology companies and IHNs (Integrated Healthcare Networks), we have developed the knowledge and expertise to handle the special needs and challenges of these types of organizations. For example, we can provide customers with a single worklist and viewer to handle studies from the primary hospital site that they read for, the imaging clinics that they own, as well as the "external" cases from secondary, and tertiary hospital sites. Some of these studies will need to be archived long term at the customer's data center, whereas others will not require access beyond a few months. We can interface with multiple information systems that have incompatible accession and medical record numbers, so that you have access to all prior reports and images, and so that you can manage the distribution of diagnostic reports back to each one.

Most of our customers want to expand their business over time and so they need to have a PACS they trust can perform, allowing them to work quickly and effectively. For instance, teleradiology solutions can involve multiple different information systems, can employ multiple different types of workflows, and are inherently vulnerable to technical failures and other external factors that may not be directly related to PACS. For this reason, we built IntelePACS to be reliable and tolerant to hardware failures and network inconsistencies. It also has built-in tracking tools, auditing tools, self-monitoring and diagnostic systems for advance detection of potential problems, and is backed by our 24x7x365 proactive Support Center team.

Intelerad's client-driven approach and understanding of PACS for regional and wide area networks ensures a loyal following among IntelePACS customers who are focused on growth; especially those that use technology to propel the efficiency of their operations, as well as to help differentiate their solution from those of competitors. Take Kansas-based United Imaging Consultants for example (www.uic-kc.com). UIC is a large radiology group serving the Kansas City Metropolitan area that provides imaging services to eight area hospitals and several imaging centers in Missouri and Kansas, one of which they own. In 2006, they replaced their previous PACS with Intelerad IntelePACS in order to streamline their workflow and accommodate future expansion. With IntelePACS, UIC is able to compile their cases from eleven different acquisition sites into a single system in order for them to streamline their workflow and balance their workloads by using a single reporting worklist and viewer. No longer relegated to switching workstations and software depending on the case, UIC has benefited by improving their comfort, productivity and turnaround time for their customers.

In a recent 2007 Ambulatory PACS Report , Intelerad was rated the #1 PACS. Of all the PACS vendors in this segment, Intelerad really stands out from the rest as the vendor with the largest customers by study volume. The fact that our customers are also the most satisfied with their choice of PACS and vendor speaks volumes about our capabilities. So if you find yourself in the habit of asking for a lot and receiving very little from your PACS vendor, then maybe it's time to break that habit and call Intelerad. We think we may be just what you're looking for.
