AMIC Creates RightScanRightTime.org

The Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC) announced it has launched RightScanRightTime.org, a Web platform that promotes the initiative to ensure patients have access to diagnostic imaging services.

Moreover, it serves to demonstrate the imaging community's support for such a public policy, one that AMIC notes will improve health outcomes while reducing Medicare expenditures.

The coalition, consisting of more than 100,000 physicians, medical providers and patient organizations, added that the Web site has a “strong educational component,” complete with resources that describe the different types of medical imaging technologies. It also contains a database of peer-reviewed research.

"This Web site will help patients and advocates learn more about imaging," said Tim Trysla, executive director of AMIC.  "From easy-to-understand definitions of modalities to policies that are designed to ensure patients have access to the right scan at the right time, this Web site will quickly become a 'must-read' for those interested in imaging."

The new Web portal encourages patients, family members, providers and community leaders to use RightScanRightTime.org to share imaging stories with policymakers through the "Share Your Story" and "Get Involved" sections. AMIC explained that one of the site’s major goals is to foster an ongoing dialogue with policymakers about the personal value of imaging.
